Breaking the speed record: New invented Multi-core optical fiber cables transfers data 255 TBps

Image
Researchers at the Eindhoven University of Technology and the University of Central Florida have developed a new fiber optics cable capable of transmitting the contents of over 5,000 DVDs in a single second – a speed six times greater than the previous record. The advance could help us reach petabit-per-second speeds over the next few years, which will be crucial for keeping up with growing bandwidth demands. By upgrading the equipment at both ends of the cable, IT experts have been able to improve the transmission speed of fiber optics by a factor of 10 every four years, keeping up with the increasing demands for internet traffic. However, over the next few years, this will no longer be enough. Fiber cables as they are currently being made face an inescapable speed limit  of about 100 terabits per second. If we want to avoid a "capacity crunch" by the end of the decade, we'll soon need to replace them with new types of cables that are able to push that limit much fu...

SOLVED: How To Remove Write Protection From USB - Pen Drives or Hard Drives

Image
You might have been going through some tough time trying to fix your write protected dive. Here is final destination for the solution. This post basically shows us how to remove write protection for our pen drives or flash drive like some call it, and all hard drives. Write-protected drives are locked; users can't delete or change the files on a write-protected pen drive or hard drive, nor can they format the device. If you attempt to modify a device that's been write-protected, a message such as " This Disk Is Write-Protected. Remove the Write-Protection or Use Another Disk"  will appear. Disk-related errors can be a huge source of frustration for a business, particularly if the drive contains critical files or backup data, but you can easily disable write-protection via command line to re-enable access to the drive. Step 1 Click Start. Type "cmd" into the search box. Press "Enter" to load the Command Prompt. Step 2 Type: "d...

Samsung now let you transfer 1GB movie in under three seconds with it's new 60GHz Wi-Fi technology

Image
Samsung has developed 60GHz Wi-Fi technology that it claims bridges the gap between theoretical and actual Wi-Fi speeds. The technology touted 802.11ad will enable data transmission speeds of up to 4.6 gigabits per second (Gbps), or 575 megabytes (MB) per second, a five-fold increase over the existing maximum of 866Mbps. Just to give you an idea, the new Wi-Fi technology would enable a 1GB movie to be transferred between devices in less than three seconds, and would allow uncompressed high-definition videos to be streamed from mobile devices to TVs in real-time without any delay. Samsung claims its 60GHz Wi-Fi technology maintains maximum speed by eliminating co-channel interference, regardless of the number of devices using the same network, exhibiting an actual speed which is over 10 times faster than that of the existing 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi technologies. The South Korean company says it has solved the penetration and path loss issues associated with millimeter waves by lev...

HP Unveils Its Most Powerful Desktop Workstations With 36-Cores

Image
HP unveiled new Z-series desktop workstations with the ability to support up to 36 CPU cores at a press event at its facility in Fort Collins, CO. Also announced were new portable workstations with optional PCIe flash drives and a portable monitor that's powered by a single USB cable. that looks like 36 cores, all right. The new Z840, Z640, and Z440 desktops are more quiet and power-efficient than their predecessors, but the big news was the support for 36 processing cores on the Z840 and Z640. Yes, we all asked if the number was a mistake. HP showed us the system monitor, which displayed a total of 72 threads (doubling the core number via hyper-threading). Currently the 18-core Intel Xeon CPUs run at 2.3 GHz, but there are lots of other CPU options with speeds ranging from 1.6 to 3.5 GHz and from four to 14 CPU cores. Thunderbolt 2 is available through an add-on card, just like on the previous generation of workstations. Inside the Z840 are four internal 3.5-inc...

In the Windows team, we’re proud of this – but we also know that the world today is very different from the one in which Windows grew up. Today, devices outnumber people. Connectivity is like oxygen. Samsung unboxes the Galaxy Note 4

Image
Earlier yesterday Carphone Warehouse unboxed the Sony Xperia Z3 in a less-than-ordinary fashion — by unboxing it underwater. That’s not the only notable unboxing video hitting today, as Samsung has now released an unboxing vid for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. While Samsung’s video isn’t as unique as what Carphone Warehouse brought us for the Z3, it is the first unboxing of the Note 4 and gives us a closer look at what to expect. Keep in mind that the video shows off the Korean model, which arrived today, ahead of original schedule. That means that the boxing materials may not be exactly the same as you’ll find in other markets, and it also means the video is in Korean, though there are English subtitles. Looking for more details regarding the Note 4? Check out our original IFA announcement, as well as our hands-on first look of the latest Note: While the wait has ended for those in South Korea, the rest of the world doesn’t have too much longer as the handset is expected...

Ghost 'caught on police station CCTV', New Mexico officers say

Image
Here comes the power of a worldly CCTV camera device as Detective Karl Romero spotted the eerie ghost-like figure while monitoring the CCTV footage of his station in Espanola There was something strange in this neighbourhood and luckily it was outside a police station – after officers observed an eerie orb-like figure on CCTV skulking around their premises last Saturday. Detective Karl Romero was checking the surveillance cameras of his station in Espanola, New Mexico, when he saw what looked like a ghost within a secured area outside the building. He told Action 7 News that he even saw it move through cages and a gate as it traversed the car park, before alerting it to his supervisors. “At first I thought it was a podilla, a fly or moth, then I saw the legs and it was a human. But not a real human. No. A ghost,” Mr Romero told Khon2. Unauthorised movement inside or out of the controlled area would sound an alarm, leaving police baffled. “A lot of officers have se...

Xperia Z3 gets unboxed underwater, just because

Image
The folks over at Carphone Warehouse just added a new twist to an old concept. For Sony’s new Xperia Z3 flagship, the UK retailer sent a bloke to the bottom of a swimming pool to do an underwater unboxing. Just don’t ask us why. Sony Xperia Z3 underwater unboxing  The Xperia Z3 is resistant to elements, just like its predecessors, though Sony upped the ante with a double certification, IP65 and IP68. This means that the phone is “dust tight” and that it can withstand low-pressure jets of water from all practicable directions (IP65), as well as immersions under 1.5 m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes (IP68). Just don’t forget to properly close all the flaps on the phone before you take it for a dip – Sony will not replace your water-damaged phone if it finds that the flaps work as intended. We’ll have the Xperia Z3 soon in-house for our own reviews and feature focus posts. Until then, Carphone Warehouse guy, we challenge you to do a full underwater review. What do you...

Everything You Need To Know About iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Image
And here comes the beginning of a new dawn for Apple iPhone history. It's something which will send a shudder down the spines of a collective of die-hard Apple fans, a handset some thought we'd never see from the Cupertino-based outfit. Yet it has landed, staring down the barrel of the biggest iPhone in history - the iPhone 6 Plus. It arrived alongside the iPhone 6 - Apple's new flagship smartphone - which measures 4.7 inches, making it more welcoming to a wider array of palms than the supersized iPhone 6 Plus. Many of you, especially those of an Android persuasion, may be wondering what all the fuss is about. After all the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 turned up with a 5.5-inch display over two years ago. Take a moment to glance at the history of the iPhone though, and you'll see why the iPhone 6 Plus is such a big deal. Previously Apple has only dealt in two screen sizes - a 3.5-inch display graced the first five generations of iPhone, and just three have had the pl...
